Cube Distributor
Overview
The Cube Distributor is a ceiling-only component that dispenses cubes on demand through one or more linked Cube Creation Buttons. It activates and deactivates like the other detection components, and only releases cubes while it is activated.
A distributor produces either standard cubes (opaque blockers) or cube concentrators (re-emit incoming lasers as a merged color), depending on its configuration.
How to place a Cube Distributor
- Open the main shortcut bar with the
/laserscommand. - Aim at a ceiling block. The distributor can only be placed on the underside of a block — placing it on a wall or floor is rejected with a translated error message and the placement fails.
- Right-click with the Place component button in hand and pick Cube Distributor.
- The distributor appears below the targeted ceiling block, with its dispense hole pointing straight down. Its edition shortcut bar opens automatically.
The distributor cannot be rotated — its orientation is fixed by its placement face. The cube spawn point sits in the block immediately below the distributor.
How to edit a Cube Distributor
If the distributor's edition shortcut bar is not already open, right-click on the distributor to open it.
Via Shortcut bar
From the distributor's edition shortcut bar, you can:
- Toggle the cube type: switch the distributor between standard cubes and cube concentrators.
- Configure detection: adjust the detection threshold and mode the same way as a Laser Receiver or a Laser Solidifier.
- Create Cube Creation Buttons: opens the placement flow for buttons linked to this distributor.
- Open the Component Configuration menu for the full set of options.
Via Component Configuration menu
The Component Configuration menu exposes:
- The cube type (standard / concentrator) checkbox.
- The detection threshold (min / max activated lasers).
- The detection mode (Conditions).
- The list of linked Cube Creation Buttons (with teleport actions).
- Scheduled actions for time-based behavior adjustments.
State saving
Only admin actions are saved when leaving the puzzle area. Player-side modifications are reset on area exit, like every other configurable component.
Interactions
Player Interaction
The distributor itself is not directly interactable by players outside of editor mode — cubes are dispensed through the linked Cube Creation Buttons, not by clicking the distributor.
Deleting a Cube Distributor in the editor cascade-deletes all of its linked Cube Creation Buttons, and removes the live cube it currently owns (if any).
Laser Interaction
The distributor is opaque to lasers — any beam aimed at the distributor is blocked at the impact point. Its activation state is driven by the same detection rules as other detection components (see Conditions).
When the distributor's helmet swaps to its activated visual, linked Cube Creation Buttons can dispense cubes. While deactivated, button clicks play a failure sound and no cube is produced.
Cube ownership
A distributor owns at most one live cube at a time. Pressing a linked Cube Creation Button while a cube is already alive destroys the previous cube before spawning the new one. Cubes are not persistent — they disappear on server restart, area reset, or when the area unloads.

Troubleshooting, Common Issues and Community Feedback
- Placement rejected: the distributor must be placed on the underside of a block (a ceiling). Try aiming at a ceiling block from below.
- Button click does nothing: check that the parent distributor is activated. If it is not, the button plays a failure sound and skips the dispense step.
- Spawn rejected: if the block immediately below the distributor is occupied (a solid block, lava, or another distributor's cube), the dispense fails with a translated error. Free the spawn block and try again.
