Concentrator

Overview​

The Concentrator is a key component in Lasers Enigma that recomposes colors and redirects the laser beams. It plays an essential role in puzzle mechanics by altering laser direction and color composition. By default, a newly placed Concentrator faces south, directing any incoming laser light to the south. This page explains how to place, configure, and interact with the Concentrator, while also offering troubleshooting tips and avenues for feedback.

This component can be rotated in 3D and scheduled actions can be added to it.

How to Place a Concentrator​

  1. Open the Main Shortcut Bar:
  2. Select a Placement Location:
    • Aim at the block where you want to place the component—this could be on the floor, ceiling, or wall.
  3. Place the Component:
    • Right-click with the "Place component" button in hand and select Concentrator.
  4. Access the Editing Options:
    • After placing the component, the Concentrator edition shortcut bar will automatically open, allowing you to edit the component.

How to Edit a Concentrator​

If the Concentrator's edition shortcut bar isn't already open, simply right-click on the Concentrator to display it.

Via Shortcut bar​

From the Concentrator's edition shortcut bar, you can:

  • Rotate the Concentrator: Rotate the component by 27.5° to the left, right, top, or bottom.
  • Access Configuration Options: Open the Component configuration for more options.

Via Component Configuration Menu​

Inside the Component Configuration Menu, you can:

  • Rotate the Concentrator: Again, adjust it 27.5° in any direction (left, right, top or bottom).
  • Schedule Actions: Open Scheduled actions menu for time-based behavior adjustments.

State saving​

Only admin actions will be saved once you leave the puzzle area. If a player leaves an area after modifying a laser receiver, those changes will be reset.

Interactions​

Player Interaction​

Players have the ability to rotate the Concentrator both horizontally and vertically. This capability can be enabled or disabled via the Area configuration menu.

Note: When a rotation button is selected in the shortcut bar, a curved arrow preview is displayed around the component to indicate the direction of the upcoming rotation. This preview adapts to the player's position relative to the component. The preview requires ProtocolLib and can be disabled via the rotation_preview config option.

Laser Interaction​

The Concentrator assembles the colors it receives into a single resulting color, then directs that color in the orientation it's facing. For further details, refer to the colors addition page.

Interactions with Other Components​

While the Concentrator itself does not directly interact with other components, the redirected laser light does. For a complete overview of these interactions, visit the Lasers Interaction page.

Note: Only admin actions are saved after leaving the puzzle area; player modifications will reset when leaving the area.
