Bonus

Bonus

Overview

The Bonus is a special chest-shaped component triggered when a player interact with it and successfully complete the puzzle in the same run.

It is mostly used to reward players for exploring the puzzle area and finding hidden secrets, additional puzzle solutions, or simply to add an extra layer of challenge for completionists.

Key characteristics:

  • The bonus can be collected again each new run, even if already obtained previously.
  • If the player exits the area without winning, the bonus is not counted.
  • Once confirmed (after a winning exit), the bonus is permanently recorded for that player — it cannot be "obtained again" in terms of global counting.
  • Multiple Bonus components can exist in a single puzzle area.

This page explains how to place and configure the Bonus component.

How to Place a Bonus

  1. Open the Main Shortcut Bar:
  2. Select a Placement Location:
    • Aim at the block where you want to place the component.
  3. Place the Component:
    • Right-click with the "Place component" button in hand and select Bonus.

How to Edit a Bonus

The Bonus component can be rotated by puzzle makers (players with the lasers.edit permission) in editor mode.

To rotate a Bonus:

  1. Enter editor mode (/lasers).
  2. Right-click on the Bonus component to open its menu.
  3. Use the rotation buttons to rotate it.

Alternatively, use the command:

/le component rotate <x> <y> <z> <LEFT|RIGHT|UP|DOWN>

Note: Players without the lasers.edit permission cannot rotate the Bonus.

Interactions

Player Interaction

A player interacts with the Bonus by right-clicking on it during a run:

  • A sound plays to confirm the interaction.
  • The bonus is registered in memory for the current run.
  • If the player wins and exits the puzzle area, the bonus is permanently recorded.
  • If the player loses or exits without winning, the bonus interaction is discarded.

Players can see how many unique bonus components they have obtained globally via the /le stats command.

Laser Interaction

The Bonus component stops laser beams that hit it (acts as an opaque blocker). It does not reflect or transmit lasers.

Stats display

  • The /le stats command displays the number of unique bonuses obtained by a player across all puzzle areas.

Common Issues

The bonus was not counted:

  • Make sure the player exited the puzzle area through a winning exit (victory area or by meeting the victory conditions) after clicking the Bonus.

The player claims they clicked the Bonus but it wasn't counted:

  • Verify the puzzle victory conditions are correctly configured.
