Menus hierarchy

Introduction

Lasers-Enigma offers a rich set of in-game menus for both puzzle makers (edition mode) and players (play mode). Menus come in two forms:

  • Shortcut bars — items placed in your hotbar (slots 1–9). You interact with them by selecting a slot and clicking.
  • Chest menus — GUI windows (like a chest) that open on your screen. You click items inside the chest to perform actions.

This page gives you a complete overview of every menu, how to reach it, and what it leads to.

As a puzzle maker

Being a puzzle maker means you typed the /lasers command (or /le editor). This enters edition mode.

To go back to being an ordinary player, simply retype the /lasers command, or click the Exit button on the main shortcut bar.

Overview diagram

This diagram shows the big picture: how all major menus connect to each other in edition mode.

Legend: 🔧 = Shortcut bar (hotbar) — 📦 = Chest menu (GUI inventory)

Main shortcut bar

The main shortcut bar is the root menu for puzzle makers. It opens when you enter edition mode with the /lasers command.

From here you can access all other menus. You always return to this bar when you leave a sub-menu.

Hotbar itemAction

Sync ToolRight-click a component to open its Syncs menu
Copy componentRight-click a component to copy it to your clipboard
Area configurationOpens the Area configuration chest menu
StatisticsOpens the Area statistics chest menu
Create areaLeft-click two corners to create a new puzzle area
Delete areaOpens the Delete area confirmation
ExitLeaves edition mode and returns you to normal play

Right-clicking a component while holding any item (except Sync Tool and Copy component) opens the Component shortcut bar for that component.

Left-clicking a component in edition mode deletes it.

Place component

A chest menu listing all available component types and placeable blocks. Click one to place it.

For most components, selecting one opens the Select color menu. Some special cases:

  • Elevator → opens the Elevator second location shortcut bar first.
  • Paste from clipboard → directly pastes the copied component.
  • Components that don't have a color (e.g. Prism, Redstone sensor) → created directly and opens the Component shortcut bar.
  • Placeable blocks (Mirror block, Glass and glass panes) → opens the Select color menu, then directly places the block (no Component shortcut bar).

Available components: Laser sender, Laser receiver, Mirror support, Prism, Concentrator, Reflecting sphere, Filtering sphere, Gravitational sphere, Mirror chest, Redstone sensor, Conditional redstone block, Conditional disappearing block, Conditional disappearing block (from shape), Conditional appearing block, Conditional appearing block (from shape), Music block, Lock, Elevator, Burnable block, Leaderboard, Laser solidifier, Bonus.

The (from shape) variants of the conditional appearing/disappearing blocks replace the clicked block and capture its exact shape and orientation (stairs, logs, slabs, fences, ...) as the component's visible appearance. See Conditional appearing block and Conditional disappearing block for details.

Available placeable blocks: Mirror block, Glass, Glass pane.

Select color

A chest menu showing all available colors. Appears in three contexts:

  1. When placing a new component — after selecting a color, the component is created and the Component shortcut bar opens.
  2. When placing a block (Mirror block, Glass, Glass pane) — after selecting a color, the block is placed directly (no shortcut bar opens).
  3. When changing an existing component's color — after selecting a color, you return to the Component configuration chest menu.

Component shortcut bar

Opens when you right-click a component in edition mode, or automatically after placing a new component.

This hotbar displays quick-access actions specific to the selected component. The available items depend on the component type. Common items include:
